Blue skies, 25 degrees (77 F), the artificial sea looks very inviting…that’s what I was thinking about while I was taking my 20-minute walk to the convention center in the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas (and not for the first time that day). Mandalay Bay hotel was the location of the annual US Check Point Experience convention. Between the blue skies, the artificial sea and the roulette tables many people did actually attend the convention.
At the event, we could proudly communicate that Commtouch is behind 3 out of the 6 dimensions of the Messaging Security module of the UTM-1 Total Security (the official name), a new version which got a lot of coverage this year.
During the show we met many of Checkpoint resellers from the Americas. It was interesting to meet many resellers and distributors from Latin America, which showed a lot of interest in understanding the technology behind the new module. Some of them have already started looking into the UTM-1 Total Security and even had good impressions (it actually stops spam :).
We also met many resellers and distributors from Canada, and one of them even won our lottery drawing of tickets to the Monty Python Spamalot show at the Wynn Las Vegas. (“The show features lusty maidens, dancing divas, a killer rabbit and the only legless knight appearing on the Las Vegas Strip.”)
In addition to the UTM-1 coverage, Check Point also introduced and discussed many of its new versions for higher end solutions, cooperation with IBM, Nokia and others.
All in all, no doubt that Check Point knows how to set up a great show, interesting and fun (the evening event was held in the LAX night club which is considered to be the “hottest” club in Vegas these days, so we can’t complain ;).
Looking forward to next year…
